Choose for Ping and People, Not a Rumored Meta
The best practical server is usually the one that gives you stable connection and puts you with the people you expect to play with. Better response time and shared availability matter more than a launch-day rumor about rewards or rarity.
Confirm the server label before creating meaningful progress, redeeming an account-bound item, or buying anything. Write it down with your player ID.
This guide is written for the launch version. Do not use beta-era guides as proof: systems and account flows may have changed. Recheck the current in-game notice and official FAQ after every update.
Crossplay Is Not the Same as Cross-Server Progress
The launch FAQ separates the two rules: supported platforms share progress when they use the same server, while different servers keep separate progress. Crossplay alone does not put your character, inventory, story, or purchases onto every regional server.
At launch, use the conservative rule: do not start over on another region expecting a merge later. A second server can be useful for testing, but treat it as a separate save until official policy says otherwise.

Server Choice Is Not Cloud Access and Not a Link Repair
